Hi! I'm Cheryl Pearson, owner and instructor of Sounding Grace Music! I fell in love with music in elementary school when I began studying violin. An active violinist through grade school, I participated with local district and state orchestra competitions and ensembles, and found a love through performing and sharing music with others!
It was never a question of what I would do in life. Music is my one and only! I received her undergraduate degree in Violin Performance from George Mason University in 2008. During her undergraduate career, I actively performed in the DC Metro area & throughout Hampton Roads as a soloist and chamber musician.
In addition to performing, I've has always had a love for music education. I have remained involved in music through private lessons and coaching chamber musicians since 2001, working with young musicians of all ages and backgrounds! My passion for music and education led me to pursue her masters degree, which she obtained from Liberty University in Music Education in 2020.
Though trained as a classical violinist, I have always loved to explore music in a variety of avenues: classical, contemporary, jazz improv, and music theater to name a few! I've performed as a classical musician in a community symphony orchestras, and I've engaged in music theater as a vocalist and pit musician. She currently remains active as a vocalist and instrumentalist with her local church. I also love working with children in the homeschool community! I serve alongside Tidewater Homeschool Music as the Orchestra Director for beginner, intermediate, and advanced strings musicians.
Music is everything to me, and I will never turn down an opportunity to share music with others through private lessons, community opportunities, event performances, or whatever comes along!
